Patricia Edmonds has worked, trained and consulted in the realms of journalism and communications for nearly three decades. A veteran of newspaper, magazine and online journalism, Patty previously headed the online news operation at National Public Radio, where she led an overhaul of the system that translates NPR radio journalism to the Web. She also has worked for USA Today, USA Weekend magazine, and the Detroit Free Press, and reported from Europe and Asia as well as across the United States. She has trained communicators and created curricula in a variety of settings, including seminars for former Soviet-bloc journalists in the Baltic States, workshops across the United States for the National Press Foundation, and online tutorials for the Florida-based journalism training center The Poynter Institute. She has led strategic planning and research projects for foundation, non-profit and academic groups. Her past projects have included creating print and online publications on business, technology, family and other topics; and developing a primer for foundations on strategic communication best practices.
Patty holds a B.A. degree from the University of Missouri with both English and French majors.
